DESCRIPTION:El Club del Libro de Las Comadres y Seattle Escribe presenta la primera colección de relatos de la autora Claudia Castillo\n(English Bellow)\nLos invitamos a participar en el siguiente Club de Libro en español en el que se leerá la obra «Las calles de mi infancia», un compendio de relatos de la infancia en México. Este primero de Junio a las 5 PM la autora discutirá su obra con nosotros en un evento moderado por Carlotta Garjuá (Cristina J. G.), poeta y psicoanalista oaxaqueña, fundadora de Casa Lotte.\nAcerca de la obra:\nEn este conjunto de recuerdos, entre nostálgicos y de festejo, la autora nos introduce al universo de la infancia en su nativo México. Su primera piñata, el dulzor de las guayabas de un árbol ajeno, la colorida presencia de las gitanas o su infantil mirada hacia la vida y la muerte –a veces ingenua, a veces profundamente emotiva– nos transportan a un tiempo y espacio que, aunque lejano, resuena en cada conciencia de quienes hemos crecido en algún lugar de Latinoamérica.\nCon un lenguaje persuasivo y certero, Claudia Castillo ha encontrado su voz, y esta es una voz elocuente que se desliza de las reflexiones profundas del humor, del candor a la ironía, y que nos describe a una niña curiosa, que observa el mundo desde diversas ventanas y se enfrenta a él con una actitud tan dulce como insumisa. Entre travesuras y alegrías la autora va describiendo entrañables momentos de la primera década de su vida, así como la presencia de una fuerte figura materna que ha guiado sus pasos. Y cada experiencia, de alguna manera, ha perfilado su personalidad.\nAcerca de la autora:\nClaudia Castillo nació en Guadalajara, Jalisco, y más de la mitad de su vida la ha pasado en Seattle, Washington. Su vida transcurre entre su negocio de bienes raíces, consultoría y escritura creativa. Ha tomado talleres de escritura en Seattle Escribe. En 2019, su relato ‘’Josefina’’ quedó finalista y fue publicado en la antología Relatos en Femenino por la Editorial Buük (España). En 2021 publicó sus dos primeros libros: Las calles de mi infancia (All Bilingual Press, USA) y en segunda edición (Mastodonte, México), y Mariposas (Mastodonte, México). This June 1st at 5 PM the author will discuss her work with us, in an event moderated by Carlotta Garjuá (Cristina J. G.), oaxacan poet and psychoanalyst, and founder of Casa Lotte (Oaxaca, Mexico).\nAbout the book:\nIn this set of memories, both nostalgic and festive, the author introduces us to the universe of childhood in her native Mexico. Her first piñata, the sweetness of the guavas from a roadside tree, the colorful presence of the gypsies, or her childish gaze towards life and death –sometimes naive, sometimes deeply emotional– transport us to a time and space that, although distant, resonates in every conscience of those of us who have grown up somewhere in Latin America.\nWith a persuasive and accurate language, Claudia Castillo has found her voice, and this is an eloquent voice that comes from the deep reflections of humor, from candor to irony, and that describes an inquisitive girl, who observes the world from different views and faces it with an attitude as sweet as rebellious. Between pranks and joys, the author describes endearing moments of the first decade of her life, as well as the presence of a strong mother figure who has guided her steps. And each experience, in some way, has shaped her personality.\nAbout the author:\nClaudia Castillo was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and more than half of her life has been spent in Seattle, Washington. Her life passes between her real estate business, consulting and creative writing. She has taken writing workshops at Seattle Escribe. In 2019, her story »Josefina» was a finalist and was published in the anthology Relatos en Feminino by Editorial Buük (Spain). In 2021 she published his first two books: Las calles de mi infancia (All Bilingual Press, USA) and in second edition (Mastodon, Mexico), and Mariposas (Mastodon, Mexico).
