Nos complace anunciar que el 21 de abril nuestra organización, Seattle Escribe, recibirá a una invitada muy especial. La Dra. Adriana Pacheco es investigadora de la Universidad de Texas, Austin y lleva más de 20 años estudiando la importancia de promover y comprender el lenguaje, el multilingüismo, la literatura y la presencia del español en los Estados Unidos. Asimismo, es la fundadora de Hablemos, escritoras, la enciclopedia más grande de mujeres que escriben en español, y también la fundadora de Shop escritoras, la primera librería en línea especializada en la venta de las obras de esas autoras.
La visita de Adriana Pacheco a Seattle es parte de una gira nacional para fomentar una conversación muy necesaria entre instituciones, bibliotecas, organizaciones, escritores, lectores, estudiantes y promotores de la cultura sobre el estado del español en los Estados Unidos. La gira “Las cuatro esquinas” brinda la oportunidad de conocer y compartir lo que está pasando en este país con el español, los desafíos que enfrentamos los hispanohablantes y el camino que aún queda por recorrer para reconocer y celebrar la literatura en español en los Estados Unidos. El objetivo principal de su gira es ampliar y fomentar un diálogo profundo y significativo, a nivel nacional, más allá de las fronteras regionales y de las ciudades que visitará (San Diego, Miami, Nueva York, y Seattle) sobre la presencia y el impacto de la literatura, el idioma y la cultura hispana en este país.
Seattle Escribe se enorgullece de ser el anfitrión de la Dra. Pacheco y estamos comprometidos a ayudarla a sostener esa charla con tantas personas como sea posible. Para ello hemos organizado tres eventos a lo largo del jueves 21 de abril. Por la mañana, a las once, habrá una presentación en español en Seattle University. La audiencia puede participar en persona o virtualmente. Por la tarde estaremos en el Consulado de México y esa charla será transmitida a la comunidad por Facebook Live desde las cuentas de @RevistaSeattleEscribe y del consulado de México. We are delighted to announce that on April 21st Seattle Escribe will be hosting a very distinguished guest in Seattle. Dr. Adriana Pacheco is a researcher at The University of Texas, Austin who has devoted more than 20 years studying the importance of promoting and understanding language, multilingualism, literature, and the presence of Spanish in the United States. Dr. Pacheco is the founder of Hablemos, escritoras, the largest encyclopedia on women writers who write in Spanish, and the founder of Shop Escritoras the first online bookstore selling their work.
Dr. Pacheco’s visit to Seattle is part of a nationwide tour to encourage a much-needed conversation among institutions, libraries, grassroots organizations, writers, readers, students, and culture promoters about the status of Spanish in the USA. The tour “Las cuatro esquinas” provides an opportunity to learn and share about what is happening in this country, the challenges that exist and the road that still needs to be traveled to recognize and celebrate the literature created in Spanish, as well as the impact it is having in the literary landscape of the United States. Dr. Pacheco’s goal is to broaden the scope of the conversation beyond the regional borders of the places she will visit (Seattle, San Diego, Miami and New York) and to encourage and foster deep and meaningful dialogue, nationwide, about the presence and the influence of literature created in Spanish in the country.
Seattle Escribe is proud to be Dr. Pacheco’s host and we are committed to help her connect with as many people as possible. To that end, we have organized three different events throughout the day. In the morning, she will give a presentation at Seattle University in Spanish. Everyone is welcomed. In the afternoon, she will give a talk at the Mexican Consulate which will be streamed in Facebook. In the evening, she will be at Town Hall and that presentation will be in English.
