The literature of writers from Spanish-speaking countries who write from the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Spain is impacting the world in an unprecedented way. Awards, publishing houses, curated lists, and translations of new books give proof of this movement, of which we are all witnesses in different ways. Hablemos, escritoras has followed this change since its inception, recognizing synergies that are marking our contemporary world, as well as the causes and motivations that have driven this phenomenon. This talk, within the 2022 tour “Las cuatro esquinas” around the United States, will allow for a conversation with cultural advocates, members of the community, and especially readers about what we have learned after years of work but, most importantly, to learn what is happening in this region of the country, the challenges it faces and the road that still needs to be traveled in recognizing new names, topics, and trends. Our goal with this tour is to broaden the scope of the conversation beyond the regional borders of the places we visit and to encourage and foster deep and meaningful conversations, nationwide, about the presence, impact and influence of literature, language, and the Hispanic culture in the United States.

** This event, a collaboration between Seattle Escribe and Hablemos, escritoras, will take place in English in its entirety.
